Guardian Family Program
Thank you for your interest in Harmony Ridge Kennels and our Guardian Family Program. I have outlined the details below about, "What it means to be part of the Harmony Ridge Guardian Family Program?".
Being a Guardian Family for Harmony Ridge is an excellent opportunity to have our “pick of the litter” as a pet. In exchange for providing a home for a Harmony Ridge breeding dog and partnering with us while the dog is part of our breeding program, you will receive a fabulous dog at no cost, after you pay a small refundable deposit. The deposit is $1500(+HST) and is refundable upon completion of the contract.
We offer this amazing program because we strongly believe that every dog deserves a forever family. We believe dogs do best in individual loving family homes. It is incredibly important to me that my ladies and gents are well cared for and experience life the way life should be experienced: lots of human attention, daily walks, car rides, etc. Happy dogs make happy puppies!
In order to ensure safety and health of our dogs and puppies in the program, there are certain requirements to qualify for our Guardian Program. Just some requirements are:
- Dog has access to fully fenced yard(however we will accept e-fences).
- Must own your home or have written permission from the landlord.
- Not have any other dog on premises that is not spayed/neutered.
- Provide a crate or secure indoors area for dog to be in when unsupervised and at night.
- Ensure that the dog is well socialized and trained.
- Attend Doggy Day Care at Harmony Ridge Kennels at least every two weeks.
- Have dog groomed every 4-8 weeks.
Our breeder dogs will go through initial health testing at around two years of age. When the dog is old enough, it will be part of our breeding program for a select number of litters. This requires that it spends some time with us at our facility during the breeding process. Guardians will be responsible for transportation to breeding unless other arrangements have been made. Guardian agrees to whelping 3-5 litters of pups (females) or 5 years of stud services (males) from the Guardian Home Dog. Females are required to stay at Harmony Ridge up to one week prior to her due date and she will remain with the Breeder until her puppies are whelped and weaned(up to 9 weeks) unless other arrangements have been made. There is a percent "kick-back" to our Guardian Homes from each litter that their dog produces. We feel that it's only fair for some of the inconveniences we are asking our Guardian Homes to put up with (females in season, males at stud without much notice, etc.)
Once the dog has completed its time as part of our breeding program, the breeder will have the dog spayed/neutered. Once spay/neutering is complete we sign full ownership over to you, the initial deposit is given to Guardian, and the dog will be yours forever. Guardians should live in close vicinity to Harmony Ridge(Lakeside, PE).
This is a unique opportunity to partner with Harmony Ridge. Our treasured Guardian Homes make our breeding program possible! The most important requirement is that our Guardian Families provide a loving home for our dogs. Once the application is filled out, we will review the information and let you know if and when we will have a suitable match for your home.
We are accepting applications for one female pup at the beginning of 2022.
